hey guys,
i changed my kernel to the ck-sources and everything is working fine except for the nvidia.o module didn't change to my new ck-6 sources is the best way to do this make a directory under /lib/modules/2.4.20-ck6/kernel/drivers/video and plop nvidia.o in there or should i re-emerge the nvidia module and see if it installs it in that directory like in my gentoo-r5 kernel. thanks for your time guys.

You have to re-emerge nvidia-kernel, the reason modules have to be recompiled when you get a new kernel is that they compile against the kernel so a module can't (generally speaking) be inserted into a kernel it wasn't installed against.

thanks i figured it would be better to re-emerge, but i just wanted to make sure i didn't have to copy it over or anything. but, thanks again my new kernel is working like a charm.

BTW a little search should have brought you a solution without the need of a new thread. _________________ I may not agree with what you say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it. |
