Hello I have problems on my new installed firefox. It is possible to start firefox an dsurf a little but but 1-2 min. later it is crashing. I have tested it with the firefox from emerge, and with the packages dirctly shipped from mozilla.org but it is the same....
I use version 2.0.0.6
When I start this from a console the following message appears:

b52ab000-b52f1000 r--s 00000000 08:05 2261812 /var/cache/f/usr/libexec/mozill a-launcher: line 119: 7681 Aborted $(type -P aoss) "$mozbin" "$ @"
firefox-bin exited with non-zero status (134)

Any Ideas what to do in such cases?
Greetings Randolf Balasus

For the record is now at version 2.0.0.11

First, you can try to start firefox with a clean profile, just move the directory ~/.mozilla to some backup location, for example
Quote:
mv ~/.mozilla ~/.mozilla.old

and try again.

If it does not work, try to run memtest - firefox uses a lot of RAM for caching, and a hardware failure might cause it to crash. Also try to run cpuburn to test your CPU.

Another idea: run revdep-rebuild to check if any dependencies are broken. This is not very likely in your case (I think the error message would be different) - however, it's worth a try.

Just to add another suggestion....as plugins can also cause these problems.

I recently had similar crash-experiences with firefox, although I don't remember if the error-message was identical. In my case it turned out to be caused by netscape-flash, so I solved it by rebuilding netscape-flash. Note that revdep-rebuild did not detect this problem, that's why I waisted an evening figuring out that netscape-flash was the culprit. (it takes a long time to build a debug-version of firefox)

Hello, thanks fior all the suggestions. I have tested the gentoo build, the normally build from firefox and the nightly build from firefox3 which I use nominally. On all builds I have the same errrors. I have started with a clean profile it is the same.
appended I have the result from emerge --info plz

Sorry it is a big amount of text:

aah and the last time I have tested: the crash occurs before surfing to a webpage! I only have started the firefox 2.0.0.11 and want change some settings... This means there is no dependency to plugins or something else

Hello, problem is solved. First of all I have reemerged an actual version of FF this was not possible because there are some issues with the java files. After this there were some packages updated. the other versions now are working too.
