so, grip won't output any dashes, amersands, (amongst others) that may be in a track name. is there a way to make it output EXACTLY what is put in the tracklist editor (even if that involves something as crazy as umlauts or whatever)?

thanks in advance

If you are trying to see which words have those characters, have you tryed a backslash before dashes or ampersands?
i.e. \&

Correct me if I'm wrong.

yeah, but instead of the convenience of cddb, i'd have to go in and put \ before every & / ' etc....so i'm wondering if there's a way for grip to detect when it needs to put in \s and do it automatically.

$ man grep
