I'm having problems getting evolution-3.4.0 compiled from the gnome overlay. I keep getting this error during install phase:
make[3]: execvp: /bin/sh: Argument list too long
make[3]: *** [install-doc-docs] Error 127
I tried to find similar problems but could not really find anything on the net which most of the time is a sign that I'm overlooking something.
I would like to understand what exactly is wrong, anyone can explain the error to me? That might point me to the right place to do some debugging.

This means that a command line and/or a variable is too long so that bash (or whatever shell you are using) can't process it. You can also get similar errors if/when your ENV is really polluted.
I am not familiar with the gnome makefiles, but the problem is probably there (this can happen for many many reasons, and the exact explanation you are looking for depends on the concrete problem, which I don't know), so you should report that either upstream or to the gnome overlay maintainers.
I'll move this to the unsupported software subforum, since this is not part of the official portage tree. |
