|
|
I have a strange issue, for which I couldn't find any answer on this forum, neither on any other, yet.
I recently installed compiz-fusion, which won't run because of the Composite extension missing in xorg. But this is not my current problem. The problem is that I don't have a xorg.conf file in /etc/X11/ as it should be, but I found one (after a search) in /usr/portage/app-emulation/vmware-workstation-tools/files/. I tried editing that one and adding:
Code: |
Section "Extensions"
Option "Composite" "Enable"
EndSection
|
But it doesn't work even after a reboot. So I tried copying that xorg.conf file to /etc/X11/ , but that just causes problems and my KDE suddenly doesn't want to start.
And if I remove it from there, KDE works again without any problems.
Any ideas?

It sounds like you have not set your X server up correctly. Take a look here for instructions on how to do this.
Just copying a random xorg.conf is a bad idea, since it contains information specific to your particular system (for instance which display driver to use, where to find fonts, input sources, etc). _________________ If you've got nothing nice to say, you're probably not alone... |

Looks like I forgot to configure it. Thank you! It works now. |
