im trying to play an AVI file thats Divx.. and it gives me all that.

Hello teknik0s,
This is because the executable is either not owned by root or does not have the setuid bit set. See the SVGALib FAQ for more info. You could also try using a different output device like Xv or X11. _________________ Robert |

which file in general do i chmod? i chmodded mplayer.. didnt work.. gmplayer.. didnt work. what file exactly do i edit? the movie *ran* as root, but took over in fullscreen and locked up my keyboard and i had to unplug the power cable to get the thing to turn off. but it worked... yea i tried doing it to the AVI file also... nothing.. help me |

hey i tried remerging it.. and also messing with mplayer -vo help .. is SVGALIB the best library for playing AVI/DIVX files? most of the others didnt seem very good. I stil cant get it to work i dont understand what file (s) im supposed to mess with to make it so a user can do it. But if there is a better video library i will use it.. any suggestions? |

I've used xv and sdl, both seem to work pretty well here, and doesn't need any root permissions. |
