Hi,
Has anyone tried running vmware with recent 2.5 kernels?
I am quite happily running it on 2.5.69 (works like a charm) but any versions above .69 don't work any more. As far as I remeber the net module doesn't compile because of some ACPI stuff.
Well, does any one know about a patch file, workaround or is even running this on any 2.5.69+ version? If I'd know a bit more about C and kernel modules, I'd maybe try patching this thing myself... |

The link above is dead but if you go to the /vmware/ directory you can find an updated version... As of Saturday July 12th the version is 36 and it applies and works 100% for me on a dual amd machine running 2.5.75. A good link above that shouldn't be forgotten!

True.
Another thing which is a bit OT but just in case anyone might have problems with nvidia and 2.5.7x kernels - then you should have a look at Bug #24226.
I also just updated to 2.5.75-mm yesterday. VmWare, Nvidia, Framebuffer (finally also the boot logo *g*), ALSA, you name it, everything working fine and rock solid so far. Did not experience even one kernel crash since 2.5.69... |
