|
|
Hi,
I'm attempting to install gentoo using the 2007.0 r1 minimal install CD on a HP DL 360 running raid 1
After checking the forums.. i came up with the following boot command
Code: | boot: gentoo doscsi nogpm |
it comes up and it hangs at *unpacking hotplug ...
so I try this:
Code: | boot: gentoo doscsi nogpm hotplug |
and now the boot cd hangs at
Quote: | *Running hdparm at /dev/hda ...
*Mouse is InExPS/2 generic explorer mouse at /dev/input/mice...
*Hotplug/Coldplug disabed via Cmdline ... |
any ideas on this? I'm a newbie on this..
thanks in advance.. |

I suggest you to download a more recent installcd (you dont need gentoo installcd, you need just a stage3 in order to install gentoo) with a more recent kernel |

Try downloading the new Finnix LiveCD from here, and using it to install Gentoo from the terminal. You can install from any live distro disc using these instructions. Hope that helps. _________________ “Truth, like infinity, is to be forever approached but never reached.” --Jean Ayres (1972)

Actually, you might do better using the PCLinuxOS Gnome Edition installation CD, and following those instructions. I've just started playing with the Finnix CD, and it has a couple quirky issues. You SHOULD be fine using the Finnix one, but I have more faith with the PCLOS-GE disc. I'm sorry for the confusion. _________________ “Truth, like infinity, is to be forever approached but never reached.” --Jean Ayres (1972)

You can use http://www.sysresccd.org/Main_Page. It is small and is based on Gentoo. Remember, you can install Gentoo from almost any liveCD. |

The instructions listed here should work for installing Gentoo from any live environment. _________________ “Truth, like infinity, is to be forever approached but never reached.” --Jean Ayres (1972)
