Good day gentlemen,
I read the post about how to get your usb Intellimouse Optical working. It made absoutly no sense to me.
I'm rather new to gentoo (and linux in general), so i was just going to get icewm running and start learning from there...
I just do not get it how i am supposed to put up the modules and stuff.
i got hid working but i get this nasty error (as so many before me) in the startup when the modules cant be loaded.
Could someone, that has enough time, put down a good example how iw should do this... It would be apprisieted. =]
I have a Intellimouse Optical, gf4mx, newest gentoo-sources.
I ask you, not to flame this and say, you are stupid, rtfm. I tried that.... |

I agree if you can post the error messages you are recieiving it would help in trouble shooting the problem and assist in helping you. |

i recommend to use usbmouse instead of hid - the only way i got a an optical m$ intellimouse working. also i've put all the stuff mentioned in the howto (input-mouse,uhci, usb ...) into the kernel and not as modules
you should get a "file" /dev/input/mouse0 (if i remember right)
cat this file and move your mouse - if you see a lot of **** on the screen everything works
put the path in your xfree config file - done |

To get my Microsoft Optical mouse working i had to modprobe the following modules:
usb-ohci
hid
input
mousedev
Remember to add the modules to /etc/modules.autoload when you get it working so they load when you reboot. |
