(6) 10Mb straight into my appartment for about $10 a month.
Sitting on a student network with around 3500 users that share their data.
We have like 26TByte of unique data and 76TB total or something.
100Mb internal switched net and all sharing a gigabit line out to the Swedish backbone and on to the world.
(BTW I don't pay for Uni the goverment does (although I lend money from the goverment to live and study here)) |

(6) Other.
University T1 lines here...I'm going to miss it when I move off campus next month. But we should be okay, as the house we're renting is only 5000 feet from the local CO. We're looking at Speakeasy for DSL, has anyone had any experience with them, good or bad? _________________ "and if rain brings winds of change, let it rain on us forever..." |

At work:
(6) Other.
Company net connection. Not sure of the speed but enough to handle our 40000+ employees so it's got to be fast
At home:
(3) cable with DHCP
Roadrunner, actually very satisfied with the speed and availability.

ADSL, static IP, 2.5mbit / 768kbit. Though soon it will be 8mbit/1mbit (waiting for delivery). 600 meters closer to the station and I would have 13/13mbit (VDSL). |

(3) NTL Cable, Reading UK.
Might as well be (2) though as my IP hasn't changed for a year at least.

Just moved from Rogers (1MB, DHCP) to TekSavvy (3MB, static, reverse resolved, servers are allowed).
By the way, do you have a shorthand in Rogers? Officially Rogers doesn't give you a static IP. I know their DHCP doesn't change IP for awhile... unless either you shutdown your server for more than 24 hours, or your lease is expired (usually in 3 months). Besides, they will never resolve the assigned IP to anything but something.ADSL.cable.rogers.net - with such address you still may have problems with your SMTP server and other problems.
P.S. Does anyone know why most (but not all! few ISPs in the past were an exception) ADSL providers give you PPPoe with DHCP (or static) rather than just DHCP (or static)? As to an end-user PPPoe doesn't give any functionality to me. What does it do to ISP that most of them love it? _________________ "Lisp is a programmable programming language." - John Foderaro, CACM, September 1991 |

They offer static IP for a reasonable price unlike most DSL providers, I have a couple friends that use it and are very pleased with it. |

(3) Earthlink, had been with RoadRunner till a couple weeks ago. Was really unreliable for a while but they fainally fixed it and it has been fine for the past few months.
Cable's fine but it's been over a year now and I still miss my ResNet connection over at NCSU. That was a pretty sweet connection. |

What's the cost of TekSavvy? I'm not very satisfied with the speed of Rogers lately.
I know that technically they don't offer a static IP but, AFAIK, they only changed everyone's IP once a year or so ago so it can be considered static. I haven't ran any mail servers (just ftp, http) so I didn't have any problems _________________ warning: `class GroveImpl' only defines a private destructor and has no friends. |

Well just because you're foobar feet from the CO doesn't mean the service is available. The CO must have the digital equiptment in the system at that location. Trust me. I live pretty close to a CO myself. I've been baggering these telco monkeys for a while, but they still don't have DSL here. *sigh* |
