Hello,
I had PostFix working beautifully with saslauthd for the longest time. Then, one day, after an emerge -u world, things broke, and I started getting this in my logs:
[postfix/smtpd] warning: SASL authentication failure: cannot connect to saslauthd server: Unknown error 168
Any ideas? |

Well, I solved the problem. It seems that since I emerged SASL2, it was masked and I was unable to upgrade it. Instead, SASL1 was downloaded when I did an emerge -u world. But Postfix was still linked against SASL2 libraries, but the *new* saslauthd was now linked to SASL1 libraries. To make things worse, now smtpd.conf lives in /etc/sasl, not /usr/lib/sasl (or /usr/lib/sasl2). It took me a while to realize this.
I remerged postfix (which compiled it against the SASL1 libs), then edited /etc/sasl/smtpd.conf, and things started working. |
