Okay, bit of a weird one. I host all my music, etc. on one server, and NFS mount it to all my machines on the LAN (and offer it up via samba to my one windows box too).

It's all been working perfectly until I updated one of the linux desktops, and now it refuses to mount the NFS share:

The output when I run /etc/init.d/netmount restart:
Code:

mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on harlequin:/opt/share,
       missing codepage or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
       dmesg | tail  or so

the line in my fstab:
Code:

harlequin:/opt/share /mnt/media         nfs             rw              0 0

Nothing has changed on the server side of things, not even a reboot. The sambda share to my windows machine continues to work fine, with no issues - it appears to be specific to this linux desktop machine. It only happened after a big emerge - I hadn't done oen for a while so I couldn't hope to tell you what was updated in it...obviously something changed, however. The kernel is the same - I haven't updated that, so it's not a missing module, or NFS being left out.

The internet works fine from the machine - I'm using it currently to post this :P

In case it helps, my /etc/exports from the server:
Code:

/opt/share      192.168.0.0/255.255.0.0(async,no_subtree_check,rw)

Any ideas?

Update:
Obviously my search-fu is weak - that was exactly the issue. Thank you!

Maybe you ran into to this problem: >=util-linux-2.13 requires >=nfs-utils-1.1.0 for nfs mounts
