Please give us the corresponding line from /etc/fstab and the error message you receive. _________________ Never argue with an idiot. He brings you down to his level, then beats you with experience.

ditto schachti
but while im here,
if you are an automounting person, you don't even need a line in /etc/fstab if udev/dbus/hald/-top-level-automounter- is set up correctly. (you also need to be in the plugdev group for most of these things including using pmount directly)
otherwise if you insist on using fstab, the things to check are
type is iso9660
the device is right, though if your system is setup correcly, /dev/dvd should point to it, ls -l should be enough to find it in the standard places
options should be user,noauto
truly though, if you work in a full featured desktop environment, automounting is the way to go for usbs/cdroms/dvds _________________ emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "moo" |

i had everything correct onmy end. it seams mv dvd player does not recognize cd's anymore. i have removable hard drives, so i removed replaced with xp and have the same problem. i also placed a dvd into the drive under linux and cd to /mnt/dvd and read contents of dirve with ls.
thanks anyway _________________ Never trust a computer you can't throw out a window.

divadgnol67,
You cannot mount a music CD, it does not have a filesystem.
Since you are a minimalist like me, I would just run mplayer cdda:// |

StarDragon,
your help would be greatly appreciated. i would like to use mplayer as well, and would like to do so from the command line. Will you be so kind as to tell me how to do this. mplayer is compiling right now.
Thanks, _________________ Never trust a computer you can't throw out a window.
