Computer froze while emerging, now it won't work

I was running emerge within a terminal while running gnome overnight. When I woke up in the morning the computer was frozen.

Everytime I try to run emerge kemerge, I now receive an 'emake error'. It doesn't even last longer than 30 seconds before quitting, but it did the first time I attempted it (before the crash).

I'm guessing I have to delete the old semi built files, but I have no idea where they are?

Any help appreciated.

A : it froze, and your running a stable kernel? you'v got buggy hardware.

B : .. could do a emerge --emptytree world overnight
