Code: |
FATAL: Error inserting drm (/lib/modules/2.6.19-gentoo-r4/kernel/drivers/char/drm/drm.ko): Cannot allocate memory

is the error I'm getting when I type
I've tried a bunch of different stuff, but I just can't seem to get it to work.
So far I've tried:
rebuilding the kernel
rebuilding x
changing from ati-drivers to x11 drivers for my radeon9200se card
revdep-rebuild
a few others I've forgotten...
I'm not sure this is the right board, but since I need drm to get beryl up and running I guess it's got be be at least relevant.
Any help would be appreciated. |

Are you trying to use x11-base/x11-drm? If so, make sure you've disabled the kernel drm driver. _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. Help answer the unanswered

I didn't think I was, how do I check? It's enabled as a module in my kernel. |

I took the drm module out of the kernel, then emerged x11-drm, but I still get the same deal:
Code: |
FATAL: Error inserting drm (/lib/modules/2.6.19-gentoo-r4/x11-drm/drm.ko): Cannot allocate memory
|
Although this time it's obviously trying to load x11-drm instead of the kernel one. |

Exact same problem here, kernel 2.6.23-gentoo-r8.
I haven't yet tried removing drm from the kernel and using x11-drm instead. Is that the recommended option? _________________ "Nothing says 'Obey me' like a bloody head on a post." - Stewie |
