bypass color cartridges brother printer

Hi,

I've got this Brother psc 110c printer from my aunt and want to get it working in linux. The problem is that I have to replace all the pretty expensive inkt cartridges. Is there any way of only installing the black cartridge and not installing the color without the printer complaining about having to install the color cartridges?
