Ive installed 3 on my desktop, and ive installed it on my laptop, then i uninstalled it from the laptop and put xp on it cause my mom need to use it (grrr)
so now im putting gentoo back on the laptop (Dell inspirion 4000) but when i compile the kernal, my nic isn't listed. it was when i had gentoo on the laptop last.
Its a Intell 10/100, but when i go under the Network device tap, there is only 4 cards listed ?
any ideas here |

That is weird!
Which version of the kernel are you using?
Why do not you try to reemerge the kernel |

hah nevermind, i thought it would be smart to take out PCI support in the kernel  |
