GenBiP, if you will.
Something that came to mind, what if we had some kind of small P2P app that published everthing we had installed using portage (the version, the compiler and use flags used, and whatever else is pertinent). Then, before any sources are downloaded to be emerged, the P2P cache is checked for a matching binary.
I just haven't figured the security issues. How can you guarantee you are receiving what you requested? Is there any easy way to prevent trojans on this type of system? |
