I've been trying to get a computer with Serial ATA up and running for a few days now. Gentoo is installed on a MSI K7N2G and a Seagate <something> disk.

I've managed to install it by booting from the cd and downloading a (closed source) driver from Promise's page. After a small mail conversation with them, I got the sources for the driver and started hacking it into the kernel. I managed to add a kernel option and it compiled just fine. However, it seems like it's not started in the kernel boot process, so I must have done something wrong.
Later on I tried to fix it with initrd, but I suck at that so it ended like my previous attempts.

Anyone who've got a Gentoo install up and running with this controller, or have a proper kernel patch?
