the kernel on the cd does not support my network card. however newwer versions of the kernel do. so is there a way i can put the newwer kernel on the live cd??
i was thinking of dling the stage 3 and portage to my usb hdd or something but then i will have a lot of probs emerging things.
i will need to emerge the gentoo-soruces and a boot loader and dhcp client stuff like that... it will be a huge hassle... or is there an easy way to download portage things and emerge them locally??
i tried to google it but found nothing useful... which is weird cuz i know i seen a guide for a network-less installation somewhere.

You need to use the latest SystemRescueCD and use the alternative Gentoo installation method: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/altinstall.xml

The SystemRescueCD is really a Gentoo liveCD, because he is build with Catalyst like the Gentoo liveCD.

What, your forum entries automatically had the typos corrected? I know that the forum software (phpBB2) doesn't correct typos. Can you please give a little more information, and maybe we can figure out what is responsible for the auto-correction.
