Hi there,
I'm currently searching for some USB soundcard (USB 2.0 device, but with USB 1.1 (full-speed) backward compatibility) that enables me to use some SPDIF sources as digital input.
I prefer non-optical connectors, but maybe there is a solution with both coaxial and optical connections.
Only input is interesting for me, output doesn't play a big role (I have an USB DAC).
Sampling rate should be variable. I plan to use 44kHz, 48kHz, 88.2 kHz (SACD signal converted to PCM), 96kHz and maybe even higher (owning a DVDA playback device which I can mod to output digital signal).
Any ideas which device to get? ALSA support is mandatory, maybe something that is handled by the usb-audio driver.
Thanks,
