Its not really progress, but I thought you all might be interested in this. I emailed Bioware's contact email to see if they'd give it to me.
Hi there,
The idea has been tossed around, but I'm not sure the engine is in a
state that we would want it released to the general public.
Thanks for the email!

Subject: Infinity Engine source
I was wondering if Bioware had ever considered releasing the source of
the Infinity engine to the community, now that it's becoming more
dated,
and future releases from your company will very likely use full 3d
engines, as opposed to Infinity's sprite based engine. If you wouldn't
release it to the community in general, would you be willing to allow
parties interested in porting it to other operating systems to have
access to it, to create binaries for other OSes (i.e. Linux)?
Either way, thank you for your time, and thank you for providing Linux
users with a Neverwinter Nights port, it is much appreciated, as would
any kind of source release be.

nice plan and good to see that bioware actually responded with a resonable comment , however at the mo bioware are at the top of their tree and I can see them not wanting to "share" some of their secrets with rivals _________________ glows in the dark |

Isn't it obvious why it isn't released as open source?
Too many swears and slurs in the code! |
