Gentoo & SMC Router -> Printer

Hello!
I have a Canon Printer connected to my SMC Barricade Router. I want to use this printer on my gentoo Linux system (with KDE).

I have found the following on the SMC Homepage:

"SMC Printer under Redhat Linux
The Barricade supports the "Line Printer Daemon". The configuration is made in /etc/printcap (folders and scripts depend on the Linux Distribution), the Queue name is "lp".

Ok, now, I have gentoo and I don't have a clue about what I have to do with this information

I have no /etc/printcap btw and emerge doesn't report anything when I do "emerge search printcap".

Install cups + gimp-print. Then find the web interface to cofigure cups. It wont be too hard. Let us know what else happens.

I have installed Cups. There is one "gimp-print" and one "gimp-print-cups". Which one do you mean?
I haven't found the web interface so far... are you sure it's installed / enabled by default? Or does anyone know where to find it?

Install gimp-print, gimp-print-cups caused nothing but problems on my system.

The web interface is http://localhost:631
It will require your root username and password.

Have a look at the cups software administrators manual. There is a section on printing to lpd servers. Have a look at www.linuxprinting.org for info on what driver to use. You may or may not need to install gimp-print and gimp-print-cups, depends on what printer you have.
