hello. after updating world... (I think after libnl or wireless-tools or libcap) I can't connect to wireless through knetworkmanager or just starting /etc/init.d/net.eth1 start. I was able to do this before! Is there somebody with the latest "world", gentoo-sources-2.6.24-r2 and working broadcom wiriless connection? Actually I don't care which driver will work: b43, bcm43xx or b43legacy. I'm on HP Compaq nx6325 laptop. Wifi worked for ~1.5 years for me without problems.

PLEASE HELP! Thanks.

Try listing your devices with "iwconfig". Maybe changing the kernel module related to the device has changed the way udevd renames your devices. If that is the case reconfigure your /etc/conf.d/net file for the new device and symlink /etc/init.d/net.lo to /etc/init.d/net.<yourdevice>.
If that's not the case maybe b43 module isn't loading properly. Try executing from root:
Code:
rmmod b43
modprobe b43
dmesg | tail -35

and post some info from kernel log. That should help troubleshooting the problem.

Looks like the interface is properly loaded but iwconfig can't correctly manage it. Try updating the firmware you're using (doesn't look like firmware problem though) or try to re-cut your firmware with the latest b43-fwcutter.
If you've upgraded to recent kernel after wireless-tools recompile try also to recompile the wireless-tools package.
Also, if your laptop has an hardware wireless button, try to toggle the hardware status with that button. I've noticed that on my compaq nc6000 when I press the hardware wireless button I can toggle the hardware status of the interface and this cannot be changed from software (without pressing the button no known software action will make the device work).
