First off, I am not sure how to take out commented lines and just post my code, but I want to paste my vsftpd.conf. I made some users and I can login, however whenever i login and do a ls, I get the error: 226 Transfer done (but failed to open directory). I have stuff in my /home/ftp directory, and that is the home directory of the user i am using, do I have to change some chroot stuff in this config file, also, would it be ok to set this users shell to /bin/false, i dont want it to have shell access.

Hi,
I do have vsftp running, with a mix of shell and non shell access local user.
There are the differences I see with your settings>
local_umask=022
chown_uploads=YES
chown_username=nobody
nopriv_user=nobody
anon_root=/home/ftp/
chroot_local_user=YES
and I don't have the following:
ls_recurse_enable=YES
#pam_servic_name=vsftpd
userlist_enable=YES
userlist_deny=NO
userlist_file=/etc/vsftpd.user_list
