good morning everybody.
i want to buy a lenovo 3000 n200 laptop with the pentium dual core t2330. i only have gentoo installed on a amd athlon-xp 2800+ (single core), so i don't know how to set up a dual core system. i know there are a few threads about this, but every thread tells other options for cflags and for the kernel. can anybody tell me what i can savely use?
is it "prescott", "nocona" or "pentium-m" for cflags? shall i use "core duo/newer xeon" in kernel or "pentium"? i'm a bit confused about it. and, what interessts me most is, which architecture to use. x86 or amd64? i don't want to build a system that could be very much better with other settings, if you understand what i mean.
so, can somebody tell me exactly what to use?!
thanks! |

check out the gentoo wiki for what cflags to use, or the gcc manual, it will point which -march option is optimal for your cpu and how to find out. |

oh, sure, didn't think of save_cflags.
ok, now i know that i have to use "prescott" and a 32-bit profile (x86). but i still don't know which processor-family to choose in kernel. pentium-m or core duo? |

pentium-m is a pentium3 older generation so probably do not use this one, but prescott. |
