Hi,
I am using Gentoo from 2 months and recently overheard that we have a new upgrade for KDE.. So may I know how to get that one now? As I am under proxy, emerge sync is not working for me
Hence I downloaded latest portage tree and unzipped in place of old tree.. Now did a emerge -update world...But it did not update KDE... So any help wud be wonderful..
Thanks

Have you tried using emerge-webrsync which works behind a proxy?
What version of KDE are you running?
Then look for the kde-base/kde package
Code: | * kde-base/kde
Latest version available: 3.1.2
Latest version installed: 3.1.2
Size of downloaded files: 0 kB
Homepage: http://www.kde.org/
Description: KDE 3.1 - merge this to pull in all non-developer kde-base/* packages |
That's the latest unmasked kde.

Hi,
Thanx fro the reply. Webrsync also doesnt work here as soon as I issue that command, my console just does nothing. It waits for something .........and keeps on waiting )
However, I downloaded the latest portage tree and untarred in place of old one. But as emerge -s looks present portage tree and then updates my packages, does that mean my potrtage is latest but all packages remain as they are now?
I tried u r command emerge -s kde, and I got exactly same reply as u gave me.
Thanx
