Is a tri-head display within the capabilities of X? Specifically, Ti4200 with TV, monitor, and an Sis 6346 to a third monitor. I cant find any info.
What I want to do is connect two monitors, and _sometimes_ also use a TV (for videos, movies, etc). _________________ embrace the wrevolution

Xinerama was always built to handle up to N extra displays, but I have only used it with two (which required separate video cards in my config).
If you can get your TI4200 to drive the TV and monitor as separate ouptuts, I would say adding the 3rd is no big deal. The hard part is whether the TI4200 driver supports two outputs under X.

Unless you specifically want to have multiple X servers you can use twinview, which works like a charm on my dual screens and is about to be setup on tv-out as well.

well ... could not resist to post this photo from the sun website :)
however, i've got the TI4200 running in two machines, but this card is only able to handle 2 screens at once ... that is either two monitors or one monitor and a tv set. but you could add more vga pci cards to your setup ... _________________ A mathematician is a machine for turning coffee into theorems. ~ Alfred Renyi (*1921 - †1970) |
