|
|
Hi,
I'm trying to install Gentoo 2007.0-r1 on a Compaq 6720s. Everything seems to be detected apart from the NIC, an Intel 82562GT 10/100 rev3. I've tried forcing any and all modules and still nothing. From what I've read and know about Linux networking, this device should be compatible. Any advice would be great...
Cheers

As the kernel is quite old on the 2007.0 release, I would recommend installing Gentoo from another live CD. The SystemRescueCD is based on Gentoo and works quite well for installation since the kernel is much newer. _________________ “Truth, like infinity, is to be forever approached but never reached.” --Jean Ayres (1972)

No problem. I forgot to mention that you will simply follow the handbook, but to get started you will need to use these instructions. Though it is designated for Knoppix, it works with any live distribution. _________________ “Truth, like infinity, is to be forever approached but never reached.” --Jean Ayres (1972)

YAY! Thanks again.. Once I got the network connection, I just installed as normal after manually adding the mirrors to the make.conf file. _________________ # touch it
