Actual IDS, Log(analyze) and Auditing Systems

Hi,

I read a book about IDS, Auditing and so on ... described were tripwire (ids) and tiger (auditing). unfortunately the book is of 1998 and the tools don't seem to be state-of-the-art.

What are the up to date tools for this job?
