I have a scanner in a public location. It has the capability to scan to a file, and I need to use this methodology to make scanned files available to end users. The scanned files will all be stored on a small headless server. Each user will need to provide a password when they scan their document, and they will be able to retrieve their document by acessing a web interface from their computer. This is where my problem lies- I know there has to be some kind of web interface already created, and I am not incredibly handy with designing and implementing web pages. Is this do-able from a basic Apache page, or is there a nice-looking interface that I can use for this? All I need end users to be able to do is to log in, download their files off the server, and delete files from the server. For a variety of reasons, I would rather not use Samba for this. Does anyone know of a web interface I could use for basic file management like this?

Does the scanning-part need to be included or do you handle this elsewhere? Maybe http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Document_Management is of interest, there are also some opensource-systems available.

The scanning part will be handled by the scanner itself, which will save the file to the server via samba share. |

I'm not looking for a complex document management system... simply a small, web-based file management gui thast will allow a user to download or delete items, which will only be viewable to that user. This system will take care of 3-5 people (I would estimate that during its lifetime, this could increase to 10, though it's not likely). Files will originate on the scanner and be transmitted to this system via samba. I really like the way that Torrentflux manages its files. I would consider just hacking it, but I don't have the time, and I'm certainly not interested in promoting any use of torrents (the bandwidth is already maxed and the hardware is at its technical limits). |
