I have done a emerge -u world yesterday, but when I try to startx it seems to be jammed, the machine still answers through ssh:

I have tried the
169.09 and 169.09-r9 driver but they do the same. Kernel is 2.6.23-gentoo-r9
vesa driver works
revdep-rebuilt shows no missing dependencies |

I just had the same prob and wasted endless hours for it!
I downgraded to nvidia-drivers-100.14.19 (nvidia-drivers-100.14.23 would probably work too) which solve the prob for me. It seems that the new drivers have a problem with the 7600GT!

I have a 7600GT and have had no problems with the 169.09 driver. I've used every driver version released from 100.14.19 to 169.12 and they have all worked. _________________ Hindi ko naintindihan, pakiulit. Sometimes my code works. |
