Folks,
I have a Intel 4965 wireless card in my Thinkpad. I have the following scenario:
- One access point rather far away using 802.11b/g (2.4GHz)
- One access point *significantly* closer using the 802.11a range (5GHz)
- Both APs are broadcasting the same SSID (they're connected to the same network; these are true APs, not Linksys devices)
For some reason, I can't seem to force my wireless card to connect to the 5GHz AP. When I've attempted to force the card to join the 5GHz range by using iwconfig and telling it to use a specific A-channel, it almost immediately switches back to the much-weaker B/G signal.
Thoughts? Ideas?

iirc, setting the channel applies only to ad-hoc networks. can you execute the following command?
you could also try Code: | iwconfig wlan0 ap <mac address of 802.11a AP> |
