I'm trying to remote into my parents network thru the internet using ssh.
there network, Internet -> router -> 3 boxes. The router is using dhcp, the license last for a few days. Router is forwarding port 2000 to a gentoo box running off of the setup cd. The box has sshd configured to lesson to port 2000, and can be ssh-ed in from there local network. They are not running any fire walls at this point, we had the ISP open ports 2000-2500.
My network , XP(using putty) -> router -> internet. Putty is configured to connect at port 2000. My firewall is turn off for now. I should not have to do any configuration changes on my router as in port forwarding right? because im making the connection.
every time attempt a connection, check there ip making sure that i have the current address. Network error: Connection Timed out.
i cant ping or tracert there router, i beleave that is getting filtered.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks |

did you forward 2000 (outside) to 2000 (inside), or 22 (inside)? _________________
