Hi
Portage offers avant-window-navigator 0.2.1, but I don't want to install it because it requires too many GNOME dependencies. Same thing with the overlay.
However, more recent versions of AWN do not necessarily need them, if configured with "--with-desktop=agnostic"
I decided to try to download the sources; however, I can not build it because it requires gio-2.0: Code: | checking for config backend support... checking for gconftool-2... /usr/bin/gconftool-2
GConf
checking for AWN... configure: error: Package requirements (glib-2.0 >= 2.8.0 gthread-2.0 gobject-2.0 gtk+-2.0 gdk-2.0 dbus-glib-1 gio-2.0 gconf-2.0) were not met:
No package 'gio-2.0' found
Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.
Alternatively, you may set the environment variables AWN_CFLAGS
and AWN_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details. |
Anyone know what gio is and how to get it?

GIO is the new virtual file system API which is aiming to replace gnome-vfs. I believe it is included in glib-2.15.x, but that isn't in portage as it isn't considered a 'stable' release by upstream. I think I'm right in saying that odd numbered releases are unstable and even numbers releases are stable so don't expect it to hit portage until glib-2.16.x is released. |

I will be adding glib-2.15 to the tree today. This is a development version, so it'll maybe be p.masked, not sure yet. Stable release cycle at glib-2.16.0 is going to start at Monday by current expectations, then it will go out of p.mask as well in all likelyhood if 2.15 gets added with p.mask today. _________________ GNOME team lead; GStreamer; MIPS/ARM64 |

glib-2.16.1 is in the tree as ~arch (not p.masked anymore). _________________ GNOME team lead; GStreamer; MIPS/ARM64 |
