Hi!

I'm thinking of a project, which requires a non-trivial configuration.

I would like to set up my computer in the following way: As I have my TV and my computer in the same room I would like to run MythTV on the TV, while still using the computer. Especially I would like it in the IMHO most "natural way": Using the computer without any changes in it's behavior and simply turn on the TV and find MythTV on one of its AV channels, controling it via the remote control of my DVB card.

As far as I can see this is a classical job for a multiseat configuration as I would like to have MythTV independent from any user logins on the computers workplace. Now comes the hard part: I want to do it with one graphics card, using the DVI Out for the connetion to the monitor and the TV out for the television set.

I guess this is a very common hardware setup, so if we could get this working it could be maybe of use for others. As far as I see, setting X up with two Xephyr servers is the way to go. The display manager (KDM in my case) should start two Xephyr server, with the MythTV frontend as auto-login on the TV and a KDM login on the other.

Now it gets problematic: As I of course don't want to lose much functionality on the computer workplace (esp. accelerated 3D) this would require a fairly recent version of Xephyr. I couldn't get working GLX extensions in the Xephyr (from x11-base/xorg-server-1.4.0.90-r3) session (for testing puposes on the monitor)
Code:
Xephyr :1 +extension GLX -ac -screen 1600x1024 &

Compiling Xephyr from xorg git sources failed (problems finding pciaccess and some undef'd refs). Also, as Xephyr is quite experimental, so I doubt if it could fulfill my expectations as the standard X server.

Has anyone tried out something like this? Any other approaches to that configuration?
