|
|
My system is a dual athlon MP 2000+ with a gig of PC2700 ram on a MSI K7D Master motherboard and a Radeon 9700pro. When I put the CD in and go to start it I get the blue initial boot screen. Then I hit enter to continute with install. The screen then clicks and goes to black then nothing ever happens again. I am assuming that it has something to do with my video card but I could verywell be wrong. If you have any idea would you please be as so kind.. Thanks

As far as I remember the radeon 9700 pro makes some trouble with framebuffer. Though I'm not sure, I always use knoppix to install ...
You could try booting with:

The cd is the live cd 1.4 rc 4 disk. I don't get to any options. I put it in. It goes to the blue screen and says hit enter for default. Then I hit it and it goes to black and nothing else. Like it is trying to refresh but can't. Never comes out of it. I have no ability to select anything else or do anything else. |

Have you tried typing in gentoo nofb instead of hitting enter?
Another way could be booting into knoppix and installing gentoo from there. I very much prefer this way for I can surf the net and play tuxracer while installing ... |

When you boot the 1.4_rc4 LiveCD, press F2, or you can just type this :
If you want KNOPPIX, you can get it here :

You don't really install Knoppix, you boot into it from a CD like the livecd, but with a GUI (if you preffer). Tt seems to have more hardware support than the LiveCD, or maybe just another alternative that might work better for installing gentoo on other PCs. _________________ Athlon XP 2000+ Palomino @ 1.667ghz
