|
|
hi,
I have some Problems configuring the cups client to access a remote print-server.
I followed the gentoo printing guide (ipp).
(All cups topics I found here were on cupsd.conf and setting up a Printserver, which i am not trying to do. Sorry if i missed sth.)
/etc/cups/client.conf contains the correct server-name.
cups is compiled with the following flags: X dbus jpeg ldap nls pam php png ppds samba slp ssl tiff
Code: | telnet ServerName 631 | works.
cupsd is not running and not included in any runlevel.
returns:
Accessing http://printsrv.domain:631/ via bowser returns:
403 Forbidden
Code: | lpq -P printer_name | returns:
Code: | lpq: Unknown destination |
The kde control center tool cannot retrieve the printer list. (the ipp request fails for an unknown reason)
Any hints/ ideas?
I don't think, that it is a setup problem (cups server, the whole network, etc), but since i don't manage it, i cannot be sure. I have a second workstation which has printer access (SuSE 9.sth).
it seems to be trivial to get this done, since there is no one with such a problem.. ._.
thanks in advance
EDIT:
It was a nameserver problem in the network. It took some asking around though. |
