I have a stage 3 install now, and I have some problems, so I'm going to reinstall as stage 1 for the experience and clean setup. Planning to backup my /etc folder and generic files I need from ~/, anything else I could take with me? Thanks. |

You could use /usr/portage/distfiles to save some download times if your actual system is updated.
Also I don't know where apache keeps it's files in Gentoo but a look at /var for some mail/database/website should avoid later sadness _________________ I am Beta, don't expect correct behaviour from me.

By all means backup your /etc directory but do not be tempted to copy these files straight back in as things do change. Just use them as a reference for setting the new config files.
You relise that doing a stage1 reinstall isn't necessary, you can just recompile your entire machine with an Code: | emerge -e --deep world | , but if you want to...hey, who am I to stop you.
Problems can always be solved by searching....then posting.
Good luck. _________________ Where there's open source , there's a way. |

Doing a stage 1 because when I did my first gentoo install, I had a gentoo dev and another gentoo user with me to pretty much do everything. Now I want to do it myself to make sure I can |

Better keep that working kernel config. That can save some time. _________________ Meh. |
