my dsl modem is actually outside my house in a garage. To get a wireless connection going I need to create this big network.

dsl +firewall --> home server ---> dlink bridge device ---------> dlink bridge device ----> netgear router ----> laptop + ps3 + wife laptop.

Im trying to enable mediatomb (Upnp dlna server) on my home server to communicate with my ps3.

If i type localhost:49152 in firefox @ my home server, i can access the mediatomb http app.

However, from my laptop, if I type 192.168.1.1:49152 and I can't reach it.

What is odd, if I type 192.168.1.1 I can get to my webpage.

I can also ssh into my home server from the same ip.

I also had iptables running on my home server but I stopped it because I thought it was blocking my port 49152.

So why can I reach port 80 + 22, but not 49152.

any help would be appreciated.

Are you sure you're running the server for 192.168.1.1 and not just 127.0.0.1? From the home server, can you go to 192.168.1.1:49152?

Check the config files for the server to find on what interfaces it's listening.
