I want to try kde (the look and the feel) but don;t want to wait 3 days to compile it is there a binary solution for installing kde? if so how to install it? |

Well, you can emerge just kdebase and then emerge whatever you need later once your desktop is useable
It should take a lot less time compiling just kdebase, if you have a relatively fast computer it should be done overnight _________________ warning: `class GroveImpl' only defines a private destructor and has no friends. |

but than I will have KDE without any apps? or am i wrong? when I do emerge kde it will install all other things like koffice etc? |

Yes, but the beauty is that after you have emerged kdebase, you will have a minimal (well, not really but at least minimal:er ). Then you can add programs as you need them, ie the advantages of KDE without the bloat of KDE's million programs.
Also, search in the forums for DO_NOT_COMPILE, setting this variable allows you to only compile parts of a package. For example I only install KMail in the kdenetwork package. |
