Hi there,
Basically I have chosen to install Gentoo from the X86 minimal CD and need a working internet connection which I do not have. Gentoo does not pick up my wireless usb device.
I need to install NDISWrapper because there are no native Linux drivers for my USB Wireless device. I cannot install the program because the 'make' command does not exist.
So guys, my question to you is how do I install NDISWrapper? I have a USB flashdrive that I can transfer data to...
Please advise. |

I know you're using the minimal CD, but is ndiswrapper also not in the normal one? I think it ought to be: as many as possible of the things needed to get your network up should be on it, since once you've got network, you've got everything.
You could also try to copy the source tarballs of ndiswrapper and its dependencies (probably only net-wireless/wireless-tools and sys-apps/pciutils, but do an "emerge -pvf ndiswrapper" to find out) to /usr/portage/distfiles and do an "emerge ndiswrapper". Then again, I don't know if the running kernel stuff needed to create modules is on that CD |

You will definitely have `make' then. _________________ Gentoo is the stick-shift of Linux.
You work it manually, it has somewhat better performance, but it's really for the fun of it. |
