ok, i emerged it and it installed the executable in /usr/games/bin/ as the file: et. well, i edited my /etc/group file and added the user name of my regular user account (bold) to the games::35: group so it looks as follows: games::35:bold
well, despite doing this i still can't gain access to ANYTHING belonging to the games group. everytime i try to do anything with said files i get a permission denied error:
~$ ls /opt/enemy-territory/
ls: /opt/enemy-territory/: Permission denied
did i forget to do something or what's going on here? |

did you type: "groups" to check if your account really is a member of the games group.
Usually you have to logout/login for changes to the /etc/group file to take effect. |

No thanks.
Whe're here to help each other, right?
Anyway, I know how you feel. I hardly ever login/logout; and really almost never reboot (kernel upgrades...). |
