|
|
Some time ago I configured my System to download pictures from my Canon Powershot A20. Everything worked fine. Then some days ago I wanted to download some pictures from the camera (hadn't used it for quite some time) and gtkam didn't detect it anymore.
So I tried by commandline and gphoto2 also doesn't detect my cam.
The cam is alright - tried it on a WinXP box and everything works as it should.
One strnage thing: when i run gphoto2 --debug I get a strange message:
Code: |
...
0.004348 main(2): libgphoto2_port 0.5.1
0.004451 main(2): libgphoto2_port has been compiled with the following options:
0.004462 main(2): + gcc (C compiler used)
0.004468 main(2): + no USB (for USB cameras)
0.004474 main(2): + serial (for serial cameras)
0.004480 main(2): + no baudboy (serial port locking)
0.004486 main(2): + no ttylock (serial port locking)
0.004491 main(2): + no lockdev (serial port locking)
0.004497 main(2): + no ltdl (working around bugg libltdl, eh? :-)
...
|
The no USB line looks like something that shouldn't be there.
I added usb to my use flags and recompiled gphoto2 and libgphoto2.
No effect - same message.
Is that message normal?
Edit: usbview shows the camera just fine |

Thanks - reemerging libusb and libgphoto2 solved my problem.
Mounting the camera as a mass storage device seems like a good was to do things - but I can't get it to work. I'm not sure if it's possible - at least winxp can't mount it as a mass storage device. |

I've sometimes used my camera in MacOS X as disk on the desktop -- essentially the same as mounting it as a mass storage device in Linux, as I understand. It is convenient, but frankly, given that the camera seems to keep a particular folder structure on the flash card, it seems just as convenient to use gphoto2 at the command line. What could be easier than 'gphoto2 -P'? |
