I have very outdated knowledges about kde overlay now and can't solve some problems.
Could anyone give me complete list of packages and order to install kde?
I just have
emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "=kde-base/qimageblitz-9999"
emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "=app-misc/strigi-9999".

There are no live ebuilds for these anymore. You don't need those.
Stick to the version, that are in the official tree (strigi-0.5.8 and qimageblitz-0.0.4 iirc), those work afaik.

To everyone, Ingmar just committed the ebuilds for Qt-4.4.0-rc1. Please make sure you upgrade all of the Qt ebuilds
before remerging any kde package.
After upgrading Qt, remerge everything of kde starting with
soprano -> kdelibs -> kdepimlibs -> kdebase -> everything else

Please only report errors if the above doesn't work for you.

I found that QWebFrame is a class for Qt - it was introduced in Qt 4.4 http://doc.trolltech.com/main-snapshot/qwebframe.html which I have installed, so I don't know why it still fails

The error doesn't say it can't find QWbFrame, but the member called "contentsSize". This is available since 4.4.0_rc1. You can use it from Rions Overlay or better wait until it is in Portage. There also was a patch, but as rc1 is released, the kde-devs removed it from the svn-repo.

I compiled the 4.4.0_rc1 and get the same problem so I compiled even 4.4.1_pre20080408, still the same problem. Maybe after compiled qt I need to setup a PATH or something? Any ideas why it stills fails on same error?

RESOLVED
If problem seems to be complicated then the resolution is usually simple :)
I don't know why but my qt-webkit was in old version. Is was the only package from qt that was not upgraded somehow.
I upgrade it and voila kdebase compiled with no problem.

hi, I'm trying to switch from 4.4.0_pre20080313 (from some overlay, I don't remember well) to the official portage tree

I looked here, http://ftp.ucsb.edu/pub/mirrors/linux/gentoo/distfiles/ and the qt-4.4.0_rc1 file is there. Try putting this mirror address first (or any other mirror you check and see if the file is there) in your /etc/make.conf GENTOO_MIRRORS= line. Maybe the mirrors your system tries just aren't updated yet.

I guess you did that the wrong way.
You rebuild Qt using the qt-4.4.0 meta package, but that only pulls in, what was in qt-4.3.x, so it doesn't pull in qt-webkit.
The meta package should not be used, it is just there for packages, that haven't updated their dependencies to work with the split Qt ebuilds.
In addition you should not add the qt-4.4.0 ebuild to world. If you want to add qt ebuilds to your world file, add the split ones directly.

We can only help you with ebuild-related issues and that issue is a problem with the code upstream.

Something like that happened to me a while ago, because the startkde file which comes with kde svn (/usr/kde/svn/bin/startkde) wasn't modified during the emerge process to handle different versions of kde at the same time. To check if this is the case, look at that file, and see whether it contains the following lines (near the beginning):
Code:

elif [ ! -e "$HOME/.kde" ]; then
   ln -s ".kde$(basename $KDEDIR)" "$HOME/.kde"
elif [ -d "$HOME/.kde" ]; then
xmessage "~/.kde is not a symlink. Please move ~/.kde to ~/.kde3.5 (if appropriate) and symlink ~/.kde to it." > /dev/null 2>/dev/null

else
   xmessage "~/.kde is not a symlink or a dir. Make it a symlink to .kde$(basename $KDEDIR) or remove it." > /dev/null 2>/dev/null

fi

If those lines don't exist, add them and remove the .kde directory, if it's not a symlink (or rename it to .kde3.5 or .kdesvn). After that, it should work again. If those lines are there, the problem is different from the one I had.

Thanks, that did it. After checking both startkde scripts I added the lines you mentioned plus the ones below to /usr/kde/3.5/bin/startkde
Works fine now. I wonder why these lines aren't there anymore. Must have been forgotten in the 3.5.9 ebuilds..

Code:

export XDG_DATA_DIRS="/usr/share:/usr/local/share:/usr/kde/3.5/share"

# Gentoo: setup environment, filter other slotted KDE installs from PATH
export KDEDIR=/usr/kde/3.5
export KDEDIRS=/usr:/usr/local:${KDEDIR}
export PATH=${KDEDIR}/bin:$(echo ${PATH} | sed 's#/usr/kde/[^/]*/s\?bin:##g')
export ROOTPATH=${KDEDIR}/sbin:${KDEDIR}/bin:$(echo ${PATH} | sed 's#/usr/kde/[^/]*/s\?bin:##g')
export LDPATH=/usr/kde/svn/lib:/usr/kde/svn/lib64:/usr/kde/svn/lib32:${LDPATH}

Was the .desktop file for lancelot installed?

/usr/portage/distfiles/svn-src/KDE/extragear/plasma/applets/lancelot/app/src/applet/plasma-applet-lancelot.desktop
so I think it was not installed. What is the right way to install it? Unpack, build and install (copy) extragear-plasma without using portage?

After a quick look at the cmake files I remember, that it was on discussion before.
lancelot, for whatever reason has been disabled in the cmake files. You can see that here:
http://websvn.kde.org/trunk/extragear/plasma/applets/CMakeLists.txt?revision=782028&view=markup

Edit:
I had a go and tried to build it, but it fails. So sorry, we're not going to enable it in the ebuild.

you can enable lancelot editing the CMakeLists.txt listed in the previous post, but it is not working fine.

To me it appears with no pixmaps on it (just a black screen and icons), BTW any hint to resolve this??

This is what you're looking for: qt-x11-opensource-src-4.4.0-rc1.tar.bz2, not tar.gz
Maybe try removing Rion's overlay?

seems he has very old version of overlay..

Krog, if you still want to use my overlay because of qt-copy patches or exception use flag, try update first.
but i didn't test rc1 ebuilds after sync with portage yet. they may be buggy.

I still have this problem with ktorrent svn not being able to find QCA2.
Code:

-- KDE CMake PKGCONFIG macro indicates that qca2 is not installed on your computer.
-- Install the package which contains qca2.pc if you want to support this feature.
-- Could NOT find QCA2 includes
-- Could NOT find QCA2 libraries
CMake Error: Could NOT find QCA2
-- Configuring done

I have the file in question in /usr/lib/qca2/pkgconfig/qca2.pc

Have you tried re-installing it?
That file is supposed to be here: /usr/lib64/pkgconfig/qca2.pc

Qt-Copy is a series of patches by the KDE team and they won't be applied (as far as possible) to the Qt ebuilds in the tree.

qt3support is a part of Qt, that helps porting a program from Qt3 to Qt4 and has nothing to do with real Qt3 applications like KDE 3.5. Those still need Qt3.

If you still use qt3/kde3 based apps, then yes!

I installed all the QT 4.4.0 beta 1 packages and reinstalled soprano, kdelib, kdepimlibs, kdebase,..
But now I'm getting a "could not start Kstartupconfig4. check your installation" when I start KDE 4
When it went back to the console it says: "kdostartupconfig4: symbol lookup error: kdostartupconfig4: undefined symbold: _Z34QBasicAtomicInt_fetchAndAddOrderedPVii"

I reinstalled Qt again but still the same. Deleting the .kde* folder didn't work too

Deleting the .kde* folders doesn't help you with problems like that.

Try rebuilding other Qt4 stuff, too. Like qimageblitz, qca:2 and strigi.
