While I was installing stuff from kdebase, as you suggested, konsole failed at 99% test, but everything else I tried installed OK. However, Dolphin installed, but on reboot it's missing??? :? Kdm worked first time, so it kept those settings. :)

You can go through compilation of konsole by typing
paludis -i --checks none konsole
as it fails on test phase (no while compilation)

For me it looks like problem with Kmail or ebuild itself.
Something is trying to do 'make install', while there is no rules for 'install'.

Where did you get that ebuild?
It's not in the official tree.

i dont know, maybe its an old version of it, or maybe an overlay one's
i will force to upgrade it with paladius or emerging it.

To me that looks like a broken ebuild, but not sure.
At least that ebuild was never in the official tree.

Please fiile a request on our bugzilla, pointing to the svn source and some more information.

Berniyh,
Code:
gentoo-audio rob # kquitapp plasma && rm ~/.kdesvn/share/config/plasma-appletsrc && plasma
bash: kquitapp: command not found
gentoo-audio rob #
Any ideas- I must be missing a package- but which one?

The kmail error is reproducable, even with paludis -i --checks none kmail.

Will have a look. But that didn't happen here, yet.

Installed kde-base/kquitapp, and still get same error- command not found. closed and opened new terminal, and closed all other windows/apps.

Are you sure, that you installed the -scm version?

And kmail works here, could you provide a build.log?
(See the README file for instructions.)

Let me sync the overlay, and try kmail again.

I did paludis -i kde-base/kquitapp, but didn't notice if it was scm, or not. I'll reinstall it.

Yep- Total: 1 package (1 rebuild)

(1 of 1) Installing kde-base/kquitapp-scm:kde-svn::kde4-experimental

EDIT: Nope- kmail still fails- same error. The overlay had the metas and other new stuff, so I thought maybe kmail might go- no luck.

Could you maybe try with a fresh svn checkout?
And what are your use flags?

I did:
Code:
paludis -i kmail 2>&1 |tee ~/build.log
but after it fails, I can't find the log. Where would it be- I've looked everywhere I can think of.

I'll try a fresh svn kmail source, if i can find where to delete the current one. Still not use to paludis locations, etc. :?

I guess, that you did that as root, so it should be in /root .

In your distfiles dir delete the dir $distfiles/svn-src/KDE/kdepim .

Yep- I just did that. I had foolishly forgotten to remove all the source from the old overlay. However, even with a new kdepim checkout, it still fails, with this:

Has anyone been able to install an older revision with the new split ebuilds? I set the revision number to the one that I was using before Plasma broke, and with that revision plasma-scm-*.patch does not apply (asterisk is meant for part of the name that I can't remember). I need a working KDE SVN. That's the bottom line, and the current revision is far from it.

Because giving
Code:
paludis --install kde-scm
installs only few things, I'm trying to install */*:kde-svn from sets.
If you cant' understand or you want a full list of what I'm trying to install:
Code:
grep -r kde-svn /usr/portage/local/layman/kde/sets/ | cut -d " " -f 2

I find some packages that doesn't exists:
Code:
kde-base/cervisia:kde-svn
kde-base/kdeaccounts-plugin:kde-svn
kde-base/kapptemplate:kde-svn
kde-base/kbabel:kde-svn
kde-base/kbugbuster:kde-svn
kde-base/kcachegrid:kde-svn
kde-base/kdesdk-kioslaves:kde-svn
kde-base/kdesdk-misc:kde-svn
kde-base/kdesdk-scripts:kde-svn
kde-base/kmtrace:kde-svn
kde-base/kompare:kde-svn
kde-base/kspy:kde-svn
kde-base/kstartperf:kde-svn
kde-base/strigi-analyzer:kde-svn
kde-base/kuiviewer:kde-svn
kde-base/poxml:kde-svn
kde-base/umbrello:kde-svn
kde-base/certmanager:kde-svn
kde-base/kacb2mutt:kde-svn
kde-base/kabcclient:kde-svn
kde-base/kalarm:kde-svn
kde-base/kdepim-kioslaves:kde-svn
kde-base/kdepim-kresources:kde-svn
kde-base/kdepim-wizards:kde-svn
kde-base/kfeed:kde-svn
kde-base/kitchensync:kde-svn
kde-base/kmobiletools:kde-svn
kde-base/knotes:kde-svn
kde-base/konsolekalendar:kde-svn
kde-base/kontact-specialdates:kde-svn
kde-base/korn:kde-svn
kde-base/kpilot:kde-svn
kde-base/ktimetracker:kde-svn
kde-base/ktnef:kde-svn

Berniyh and other devs,

Thanks for the nice work on the Paludis based overlay. It took me some time to do the transition, but I would like to thank you for pointing me to this great new package manager.
Keep up the good work.

When's gentoo going to do the switch? ;)

Yeah, but that one is a solvable problem. The other one was a "WTF?" problem. ;)

Sorry, but there is much movement in plasma and because of that we have to keep the patches updated and that means, that they maybe won't apply to an older version.
All you could do is to checkout an older version of the patch.
