|
|
Hello. I'm installing gentoo on my Arima M622-UK8X laptop and there's no sound.
lspci shows:
Multimedia audio controller: ATI Technologies Inc IXP SB400 AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 02)
Modem: ATI Technologies Inc ATI SB400 - AC'97 Modem Controller (rev 02)
There's many laptops with this soundcard working, but not mine... I've tried to install x86 gentoo, amd64 gentoo (this laptop is Turion based), tried alsa build in kernel, tried install alsa-driver, but result is the same - no sound. In alsamixer Master and PCM are unmuted.
If I type: cat /dev/urandom > /dev/dsp all I have is the cute silence No errors, but also no sound.
I downloaded gentoo livecd and boot. This is boot output :
.....................
* Soundcard:
ATI Technologies Inc SB400 AC'97 Audio Controller
driver = snd-atiixp (those two lines are in yellow)
* Loading ALSA modules ...
* Loading: snd-seq-oss ... [ok]
* Loading: snd-mixer-oss ... [ok]
* Loading: snd-pcm-oss ... [ok]
* Restoring Mixer Levels ...
No state is present for card IXP
*(yellow asterisk) Errors while restoring defaults, ignoring [ok]
No state is present for card Modem
*(yellow asterisk) Errors while restoring defaults, ignoring [ok]
............................
Why description of sound card is in yellow? Maybe there is a problem of sound card supporting? Descriptions of ATI Mobility X700 video card, Monitor etc. are in green.
On livecd I also tried cat /dev/urandom > /dev/dsp
Result is the same - silence.
My USE flags:
USE="X 7zip a52 aac accessibility acpi alsa arts bluetooth bzip2 cddb cdinstall cdparanoia cdr cjk cups dbus
dri dv dvb dvd dvdr dvdread emacs encode esd ffmpeg firefox flac foomaticdb gif -gnome -gtk gstreamer guile

nsplugin opengl pdf png ppds qt3 qt4 quicktime scanner ssl tetex theora tiff truetype usb vcd vorbis
wifi win32codecs xine xml xvid zlib"
What I do wrong?
And finally, sorry for my english

Yes, he does. He have build-in speakers, and switch, where I connected my 4.1 speakers. But both speakers provide no sound. |
