|
|
On a Gentoo system I inherited the care of, when the unit is started, the last couple of entries in the asterisked boot messages are:
* starting local
* mounting network filesystems
This last entry asks for a password. I don't know what it is. The system gives up after two tries. The boot finishes and the system appears to work for the things that I am using it for.
How can I track down (where should I look maybe?) to try find out what network resource is asking for a password. I'd like to remove it from the boot if it is not needed so I don't see this error message or figure out what it is so I can supply the password.
Thanks.

take a look at /etc/fstab. most likely it is a cifs share (windows network) that your gentoo box tries to mount. |

Thank you for your help. It looks like /etc/fstab points to folders on an NAS. I'll look into why these folders need a password. |
