Hi there,

I have a new classic ipod 160B win formated.

I can mount it and use gtkpod to see/listen to the things on the ipod.
As soon as I delete, upload, save changes no matter what I do, after unmount/eject ipod displays: no music, no videos.
The only thing that repairs it it's the restore function in itunes.

My new laptop has NO win, therefore I'm a bot frustrated about not having the possibility to change things in my ipod.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

do you have the (masked) libgpod v. 0.6.0?

even then, support seems a mite sketchy
(see http://www.gtkpod.org/libgpod.html)

I have:

media-libs/libgpod
Latest version available: 0.5.2
Latest version installed: 0.5.2
Size of files: 773 kB
Homepage: http://www.gtkpod.org/libgpod.html
Description: Shared library to access the contents of an iPod
License: LGPL-2

So... I was afraid that it might be the case.... I am kinda out of options...

Why not try the masked 0.6.0 version

(in case you don't know already, just add the
line

Code:
media-libs/libgpod ~x86

to the /etc/portage/package.keywords file,
which you can create if it does not exist.
If you're running 64-bit replace "~x86" with
~amd64".

Then you can emerge libgpod-0.6.0 and see
what happens ... what could possibly go wrong?!
:D )

There's no question about it:
The libgpod homepage wrote:
V0.6.0 is the first release to support the new iPod Classics and Nano Videos.
These require a one-time setup of the iPod however, so please read the included NEWS file carefully.

Hey,

I am still having issues with the same version of ipod as yours. What did you have to put in the SysInfo?
Whenever I dump new mp3's on the ipod the whole thing gets wiped out.

The libgpod README and wiki explain what to do.
