Ciao a tutti.
Vorrei sapere come fate voi una volta che avete scaricato dei font ttf.
Vi faccio questa domanda poiché avrei bisogno alcuni font dal sito, consigliato da qcuno in questo forum www.dafont.com
Ho provato a cercare su internet e forum vari delle risposte ma ho trovato solamente soluzioni che non funzionavano.

Li installate in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/NOME.
Se usate xfs, configurate il file /etc/X11/fs/config, aggiungendo dopo catalogue

Se non lo usate, configurate XF86Config.
| Code: | | FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/NOME" |

in gimp 1.2.x senza installare niente puoi usare la plugin FreeType (image>Filters>Render>FreeType) configurandola ad hoc puoi usare tutti i font ttf che vuoi
in gimp 1.3 basta che ti configuri X e sei apposto.

Ancora piu' semplice: edita il file /etc/fonts/local.conf e aggiungi la directory con i tuoi font.
Fai fc-cache et voila'!

Quello era uno dei due metodi (mi ero dimenticato in effetti, come dicevi tu, ttmkfdir).
Ma anche l'altro dovrebbe andare... sicuro???

Sul sito in questione (anche se é per Freebsd, però Xfree86 é sempre quello ) distinguono proprio i font "Type1" dai "Truetype" e spiegano due procedure diverse per aggiungere i font.
Il tuo metodo coincide con quello spiegato per i "Type1" font.

Comunque facendo un bel di fonts installabili nel portage ce ne sono una marea... magari una semplice lettura dell'ebuild coripondente fa capire come e dove installarli
